Choosing the Right Chandelier for Your Space
Before style, solve scale. A chandelier that's too small disappears into a large room, one that's too large dominates a small one. Use the room's dimensions (in feet, added together, converted to inches) as a starting diameter, then adjust for ceiling height.
Hang height matters as much as size. Over a dining table, the bottom of the fixture should sit roughly 75-90cm above the table surface. In an open foyer with a high ceiling, it can hang lower, as long as it clears head height by a wide margin.
Only after scale and placement are settled should style enter the decision: crystal and tiered designs suit formal, symmetrical rooms, while linear or sculptural fixtures suit more contemporary, open-plan spaces.
Because chandeliers are sourced to order, confirm your ceiling's weight rating and existing electrical point before requesting a quote. It saves a second round of supplier verification later.
