Warm vs Cool Lighting: What's Right for Your Home
Warm light (2700K-3000K) reads as relaxed and inviting. It suits living rooms, bedrooms and dining areas, where the goal is comfort rather than precision.
Cooler light (4000K and above) reads as alert and clean. It suits kitchens, bathrooms, home offices and garages, where task visibility matters more than atmosphere.
Outdoor and security lighting generally sits in the middle to cool range, both for visibility and because warmer tones can look dim at a distance after dark.
The most common mistake is mixing temperatures within one open-plan space. If your living, dining and kitchen areas are visually connected, keep the colour temperature consistent across all three, even if the fixture styles differ.
